! I do not want to read this, can you just give me a new one?
No, please read all of this FAQ properly.
Please do not just ask me to give you a new copy without reading this page and following the advice. Often items are not in fact lost at all, they are just hard to find. Missing inventory problems are not my fault, and although I often do issue replacements, it is not my responsibility or obligation to do so.
I am finding I have to spend an inordinate amount of time these days checking my account history and dealing with replacement requests for people, both sincere customers and scammers. This is very time consuming and wearing down. If it does not ease off I will be forced to take a tougher stance on it and give no replacements at all. So please help me and read this first.
Yes, this is a big issue for me.
I purchased an item and it has not been delivered!
SL has a lot of delivery problems, The problems are not with my vendors, at least as of yet they have not been. The following steps should resolve most problems. Delivery problems seem especially bad at weekends and when a Sim is busy. If you are absolutely certain that there is a problem with one of my vendors then please let me know and I will investigate.
A) Check your Transaction history to see that the transaction did go through, and that you did in fact pay the vendor selling the item you expected to receive. To do this go to the World menu at the top of the screen and select the option Account History. This will take you to the SL website and show you all transactions for the past month. Make a note of the transaction number.
B) Check your recent items tab in your inventory, often an item just does not arrive where you expect it to be. Some items might arrive in your object folder, others animation folder, and some might actually have a folder of there own in your inventory. All will appear in your recent items though if you have not relogged since the purchase.
C) In your inventory it is possible to filter the results shown to those things that only entered your inventory within the past hour or so. To do this in your inventory window go to the Filters menu, and select 'Modify Current' . In the window that appears, at the bottom you can adjust the Hours or Days in the past that will show up. Change the Hours to say 1 hour and press return on your keyboard, now check your inventory. Your inventory will now only show items that entered it or were changed in the past hour. Once done using the filters set the Hours back to 0 so you can see all your inventory again. It is also possible using filters to only show certain types of object in your inventory. So for example if you know it is an animation you are looking for you can select only animations, and nothing else will show up in your inventory.
D) If you still cannot find the item, and you know for certain that you did purchase it, it may just not be showing up in your inventory due to SL Cache problems (This is very common) . If this is the case the following steps to clear your cache should resolve it.
| | i) Select preferences from the edit menu at the top of the screen to bring up SL Preferences. ii) Now go to the network tab and click on the Clear Cache Button. iii) Now relog, when you enter SL again your cache will be cleared and your inventory will reload.
iv) Try searching for the object again, and try using filters again as described in step C. |
E)If none of the above help then please wait a while. Occasionally SL seems to suffer from severe delivery delays. Items do eventually get delivered. Usually the delays are no more than an hour, But I have known them to be so excessive that they can last up to 24 hours before they seem to resolve.
F)If in 24 hours it has not been delivered please clear your cache again (step d) and try and find your item by searching inventory and using filters (step c). If this still does not help, then please email me at

or use the form in this website to contact me. Please let me know the transaction ID and the date/time of the purchase. You can find these in your Transaction History available through the world menu at the top of the screen.
I purchased this item but all I have is an empty box!
A) I do not sell any empty boxes, make sure that the person you purchased from was me, and that you have not been scammed. You can check who your purchased an item from in your transaction history which you can access through the tools menu by selection the option Account History.
B) If you did definitely buy from me but all you can find is an empty box it indicates that you probably took the contents out maybe without even realizing it. This happens most commonly when people use the open option when right clicking on an object in world. In this case the contents will most likely be in a folder in your inventory with the same name as the box.
C)If you deleted the object inside the box (while it was inside) I'm afraid you will not be able to retrieve it. If you have deleted the item from your inventory it will appear in your trash folder. You can retrieve an item from trash, by right clicking on it and selecting 'Restore'. Make sure you do NOT purge the item, otherwise it will be gone forever!
I cannot rez this item in world!
If you are having problems rezzing an item in world, the following may help... a) You are given a message 'Failed to place object in specified location'
The item is not in fact missing, it is just having problems rezzing in the location you are at. Try a different spot on the ground. I find relogging sometimes helps this too.
b) Are you on build enabled land. If you do not have permission to build on the land you will not be able to rez an object.
c) For newer members...is the item your rezzing an object, only certain things can be rezzed in world. Animations and Scripts cannot be rezzed on the ground in front of you. In your inventory an object is indicated by a box icon at the side of it.
d) Does the land have autoreturn on. If the land does your object may get returned to your inventory to your lost and found folder. It is also possible for objects to end up in odd places. If it seems to be missing after rezzing it try using the various methods outlined further up this page to search for missing items in your inventory.
e) You are given a message 'Item is missing from database'
This is the real nightmare one. Please contact linden even if you do not expect to get this resolved. They might be able to help. See this blog post on the sl website.
f) If you tried to rez an item, but it did not rez in world and then was missing from inventory, this may be a linden bug. They are ment to have fixed this bug so if you encounter it please report it to Linden.
g) If nothing helps please see my policy below.
I purchased an item and now its gone!
If an item you purchased no longer seems to be in your inventory Try the following steps
A) It may just not be showing up in your inventory due to SL Cache problems (This is very common) . If this is the case the following steps to clear your cache should resolve it. | | i) Select preferences from the edit menu at the top of the screen to bring up SL Preferences. ii) Now go to the network tab and click on the Clear Cache Button. iii) Now relog, when you enter SL again your cache will be cleared and your inventory will reload.
iv) Try searching for the object again. |
B) It may just be lost in a place in your inventory that you did not expect it to be. Try using filters to find it.
In your inventory it is possible to filter the results shown to those things that only entered your inventory within the past hour or so. To do this in your inventory window go to the Filters menu, and select 'Modify Current' . In the window that appears, at the bottom you can adjust the Hours or Days in the past that it will show up. So for example if you know it is an animation you are looking for you can select only animations, and nothing else will show up in your inventory.
C) How long ago was it since you last used it? Are you sure that you did not give it to another avatar, or that you did not leave it in world somewhere and forget. Also do any other Avatars have modify rights on your things (you have to specifically grant them these rights). It is possible for Avatars that have modify rights on your things to take a transferable item left in world into there own inventory. If it was an item deeded to a group, it is also possible that another group member took it.
D) Did you have this item in world and have it returned to your inventory. If an item is returned to your inventory it could end up in your lost and found folder. This would sound simple to find however SL now has a Coalesce feature which groups objects together if multiple objects are returned from a parcel at once. The best thing to do if this is to go to a sandbox or space that you can and are allowed to build on, and rez items in your lost and found folder around the time that the item was lost. You can sort inventory by date using the option in its Sort menu.
I had this item in world and now it has disappeared!
If you had an item in world somewhere and it disappeared the following might help. A) Did it get returned to your inventory. If an item is returned from a parcel it will appear in your lost and found folder. This would sound simple to find however SL now has a Coalesce feature which groups objects together if multiple objects are returned from a parcel at once. The best thing to do if this happens is to go to a sandbox or space that you can and are allowed to build on, and rez items in your lost and found folder around the time that the item was lost. You can sort inventory by date using the option in its Sort menu.
B) Are the items ones which could be invisible. Such as poseballs or other objects which can be set to go transparent. If you know the command for an object to make it visible if it has one try that. Also try selecting the option in the view menu at the top of the screen 'Highlight Transparent'. This will show any transparent objects as translucent red on your screen.
C) If you left it somewhere on land not owned by you have you tried asking the land owner if you have any objects on there land. They can check this information, and return any objects to you that you may have left on there land. When returned the objects will go into your lost and found folder. If there are multiple objects being returned at once they might be grouped together as one item.
D) Does anyone you know have rights to modify your objects (you have to specifically grant them these rights). It is possible for Avatars that have modify rights on your things to take a transferable item left in world into there own inventory. If it was an item deeded to a group, it is also possible that another group member took it.
E) Did the sim you were in crash very shortly after you rezzed the item in world. If this happened it is quite possible that the object is now permanently gone. It is still worth trying the other steps on this page to try and find the item though.
Nothing works, give me a new copy now!!!!! (Replacement Policy)
As much as I understand your frustration.. believe me after loosing weeks and months of work myself I do... please do not just come to me and ask me to send you a new one without reading this page and going through the steps listed. Most problems in fact are down to inventory, cache, sl problems or other problems which can be resolved with the steps on this page. So If you have skipped the rest of this page, please go back and read it. Thanks.
Whether I do issue you with a replacement remains entirely at my discretion. I am being faced with more and more requests for replacements. And I am quite aware that a few times at least my offer of replacements is being abused.
The real issue for me though really is one of time and resources, I do not have enough time or mental stamina to be running around checking transaction history's and replacing items the whole time. So please please follow the steps on this website before contacting me if you have not already. Please... especially newer members.......I know that Linden might tell you to go to the creator for new copies, but understand it is not my fault that these items go missing, or are not delivered, and it certainly is not my responsibility and obligation to replace an item that has been lost to the system, or by user error. The reason linden tell you to come go to the creator is NOT because it is the creators responsibility, rather that they cannot send freebies out made by residents in SL on a whim. They quite rightly leave this at the creators discretion. It is not a guarantee though.
Lastly, please do not attack me verbally, or be rude to me. If you do that you only reduce your chances of me helping you at all, and most likely just wind up being banned from my store. It is not my fault, and I am as frustrated about it as much as you are. Please be aware of this, and that it is actually not a small deal for me or any other content creator to help out in these situations. You are not the only one suffering these problems.
All that being said. If everything on this page does not help please use the web form in the web tab on my profile in-world or on this website to send me a request for assistance. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to help you, but if you send me details of the item lost I will look into it as best I can.
